I'm looking around the mall as if it were a foreign country. I've only been to the mall a few times and I usually let Bea drag me around to her favorite stores. I'm on the second floor and I realize I must look like a little kid who lost their mom or dad. Deciding it's best to sit, I plop myself down on the nearest bench and wait.

This is the prologue for a new story.
11:54. The bell already rang for fourth period. I'm forced to stay back and clean up the cafeteria with a boy I don't know. The cafeteria is empty for this period and it's dreadfully silent aside from the sound of the mops and our shuffling feet. I lean my mop against the wall and sigh deeply before sitting down at a table.
The boy, whose name I can't remember, looks over at me before dropping his mop in the bucket. He walks over and plops down in the seat opposite mine, glancing at the clock hung on the wall and back at me.
"Jack?"
"It's Joe," he says, the corner of his mouth turning upwards a bit.

I'm being yelled at by my dad via Skype. He's bright red from yelling and I would be laughing if it weren't for the fact that I'm grounded until he comes back home from his business tripwhich won't be until Mayand my car will sold to a used car dealership. My dad finishes lecturing and logs off of Skype, leaving me tired and worn out. I pinch the bridge of my nose and shake my head. I turn off my laptop and throw it on my bed.
